Cults - 5 Keys to Surviving the Cult Experience

There are some vital keys to surviving the cult experience, and I want to share these with you so you can once again have a balanced view of the world around you. Getting over the cult experience is based on these 5 keys:
  1. There is no "us vs. them"
  2. People outside your comfort zone are friends you haven't met yet
  3. You can become balanced again
  4. Realizing your full potential lies right at your feet
  5. There is no intermediary between you and God

The above keys can help you survive the cult experience, and I want to walk you through these steps.

There Is No "Us vs. Them"
Cults rely heavily upon the "us vs. them" isolationist world view. The reason for this is that mind control can only exist when you have secluded people from the outside world. If members find out the world outside the cult isn't anyway nearly as dangerous as the cult leader claims, they are already on their way to think freely.

People are generally honest and trying to do their best with whatever knowledge they have. Some are interested in religion, and others are not. We can all be friends regardless of whatever position we have on religion.

People Outside Your Comfort Zone May Be Friends You Haven't Met Yet
For a person who has been used to thinking in the isolationist way it can be difficult to realize that "strangers" are not strangers, but might be friends you haven't met yet. We know this from meeting people when we pick up our kids from kindergarten or school. People may have similar interests to ours. Suddenly you hear a boy or girl tell their dad about a car problem or fishing (or anything else) that might also interest you. The lovely fellowship can begin in all spheres of our everyday lives. It just takes that initial contact which can start the process.

You Can Become Balanced Again
All people leaving cults need balance again. This is the vital first step to full recovery, but balance can never come about before you realize the first two keys. Balance is setting aside time for all elements in life - not just reading materials from your cult.

Realizing Your Full Potential Lies At Your Feet
You may have left out some part of your education or never had time to get that extra course that could get you a promotion at work. Now is the time to catch up on lost projects, so you can again realize the whole world is open to you - if only you're willing to take a chance on something new.

There Is No Intermediary Between You and God
There is no intermediary between you and God - no one can stand between your relationship in prayer or study. The sooner you realize that, the sooner you can move on with your life and rejuvenate your studies of life in a balanced way.

In Conclusion
Getting over a cult experience takes time. It's much like losing a loved one. You've spent a lot of time on the cult you were involved with - and now is the time to live a balanced life where you can learn freely what you need to develop yourself, both in business and your social life.
